Q: Do I need to get in shape before joining?

A: Not at all! Our Bootcamp is designed to help you get in shape, no matter where you're starting from. We tailor the workouts to fit all fitness levels.

Q: I am a veteran. How does the adaptive program work?

A: Our adaptive fitness program is designed to accommodate veterans with varying physical abilities. To participate, you’ll need to check with your VA, specifically the recreation therapy department, and your physician to get a referral. Our program is focused on inclusivity, ensuring all veterans can benefit from fitness.

Q: How does the fundraising program work?

A: You can submit a request to host a fundraiser through our Bootcamp. Once we receive your request, we’ll get back to you to discuss the details. Typically, you'll sell tickets to the Bootcamp, with 100% of the proceeds going to your cause. Make sure to set a date at least eight weeks in advance to allow ample time for planning and promotion.

Q: What kind of workouts do you offer?

A: Our workouts are interval-based and consist of 10 stations, each clearly marked. You’ll work out at each station for a set duration, typically two minutes, with a one-minute rest between stations. Our program is designed to accommodate all fitness levels—just do as many reps as possible at your own pace. This way, everyone can work out together without feeling like they’re in competition with anyone else.

Q: What is the community like at Big Tire Bootcamp?

A: We pride ourselves on fostering one of the best social fitness environments. Our community is very positive, family-friendly, and supportive. We are believers and Christians, so you won’t hear any profane music or bad language here. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to be their best selves.

Q: What happens if it rains?

A: We’re an outdoor Bootcamp, so we go rain or shine. Be prepared to work out in the elements, which can actually be beneficial for your fitness. The only time we’ll cancel a session is if there’s a risk of active lightning in the area for safety reasons.

Q: Where are you located?

A: We’re located at the West Oahu Veterans Center 5001 Iroquois Avenue., Ewa Beach., just outside the gate of Kapilina Beach Homes. You don’t need an ID or any special documentation to get to the Veterans Center—everyone is welcome.

Q: I see a bunch of large tires. Do we have to flip the tires?

A: While large tires are a part of our workouts, you won’t be flipping them the entire time. Flipping a tire is usually reserved for the very end of the session. The workout is designed with variety in mind, including a mix of bodyweight and weight-based exercises.

Q: What types of exercises will I be doing during the workout?

A: Our 30-minute workout targets seven different parts of your body. It includes a variety of bodyweight exercises, weight-based exercises, and functional movements. The goal is to help you increase strength, burn fat, improve cardiovascular conditioning, and enhance functional fitness.

Q: Can I participate if I have a pre-existing injury?

A: Yes, but it’s important to check with your doctor first. We are an adaptive fitness program, and our coaches are certified to assist with any disability or injury. All exercises can be modified or adapted to ensure that participants can still safely join in.
